HOLA! Upcoming show in NELSON March 05 2020, 0 Comments

The countdown is over and opening night is upon us! I’m excited to show this new collection of paintings, ‘Gold’.
It is a good representation of where I am at currently in my art practice - painterly, old-school portraits and loosely rendered landscapes; still dancing in the space between figurative and abstraction. I love the challenge of it.
This exhibition shows at Red Gallery until June 19. If you’re not in Nelson, please feel free to contact the Gallery directly for any enquiries or to view the artworks online.

Thank you so much for checking in!
Best wishes for a golden Season wherever you are.

Hello! Summer school holidays have been in busy, noisy, happy full swing.
I've barely picked up a brush! I am now officially chomping at the bit to get into the studio and start some work on some exciting new projects and paintings.
These are all little (25 x 25cm) colour studies that serve me as a guide for colour and composition for my larger paintings. I currently have three big landscapes on the go that speak to this.
These paintings are great, affordable original artworks.
Hello Hello,
I'm excited to be preparing for a new solo exhibition at RED Gallery + Design Store here in Nelson, NZ. It opens at 5.30pm on Friday 18th May and I would love to see you there.
Suzi and Ant at RED Gallery have been hugely supportive of my work since taking over the gallery a year ago. It's always thrilling for me to call in to their beautiful space and sup on a delicious coffee and see my paintings on their walls.
I've been working on this collection of new paintings for months. It is a culmination of thoughts, walks and studies of my local landscape and still life vignettes.
The studio is packed with colour studies, empty paint tubes; linens and canvases. It is a thrilling time for me - as the energy in the studio heightens leading up to the exhibition opening night.
Follow my BelleHawk Instagram feed to see all the sneak peeks of me at work and new paintings in progress. All exhibition works are available through the gallery, please call them on 035482170 for any enquiries. Or feel free to drop me a line anytime.
Best wishes,
Georgie.
This year I am studying abstracted portraits and still-life works, monochromatic works and looking at how to incorporate printed textiles into my paintings. An age-old approach. I can't wait.
In the studio I'm stretching new swathes of linen over frames and dreaming up new colour palettes. Wonderful stuff.
Also a return to my textile design roots as I incorporate some of my original drawings and paintings into new pattern designs that will be printed on fabric and turned into who-knows-what. Something delicious. I'm thinking silk scarves and linen totes... Suggestions welcome!
I hope you enjoy browsing the website and viewing my paintings. Original artworks make original gifts! An artwork is a completely unique piece for your space and can be enjoyed for many years.
HI Everyone,
"A color stands abroad
On solitary hills
That science cannot overtake,
But human naturefeels.
It waits upon the lawn;
It shows the furthest tree
Upon the furthest slope we know;
It almost speaks to me."'A Light Exists in Spring' - Emily Dickinson
Not sure if it's the mad spring weather or just my creative evolution but change is definitely in the air.
I am researching abstract expressionism at present and feeling totally inspired by the movement that happened predominately in the 1950's. Willem De Kooning, Clifford Still, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline....
I have begun to cut loose in my painting and mark-making, exploring expressionism further in my work.
I'm loving it!
This new work is entitled 'Uplift' and is available in the webshop
or via RED Art Gallery in Nelson.
Hellooo from the studio!
I'm keeping busy painting and preparing new work this week; happy to be exhibiting at The Coolstore Gallery at Mapua Wharf for the month of September.
